Question Which linux distribution will be suitable for Compaq Presario V5201TU laptop

My Compaq Presario V5201TU Notebook PC (Intel celeron M processor 410 @1.46 GHz,1 gb DDR2 ram and Intel 945 series chipset)has windows 8.1 basic on 1 partition.I want to install Linux distribution on 2nd partition.Which distribution is suitable ?? I tried linux mint cinnamon but it didn't worked.

What does not work? Have you tried various "safe boot" options?

Download Mind distro from around 2015. Current distros, with their current kernels, most probably don't support your CPU / graphics.

No sound and wifi connectivity even after installing necessary drivers in mint cinnamon.Also sometimes it refused to boot and restarted.

Since Linux drivers are part of the kernel, switching distributions wont help a lot (the undelying kernel does not change), and recent kernels usually drop support for very old hardware. Open shell, execute "lsusb" and "lspci", and post here what you see.
