which Microsoft office is compatible with windows 8?

What version(s) of Microsoft Office is compatible with Windows 8? I have a HP 2000 Notebook PC.

Most versions are compatible. 2002 is about to lose support from Microsoft and shouldn't be considered an option. Office 2007 is decent, and 2010 is my personal favorite. Office 2013 is built for Windows 8 specifically. It has a metro theme and is built to work well with metro-tiles.

I use office 2007 on my Windows 8.1 laptop fine, I don't think anything before that is though.

Oh? I'm using it on 8.1 no bother. Have to install it using Compatibility, though... Simply Rt click the Setup.exe file and choose 'Troubleshoot Compatibility' Once installed, d'load File Format Converter from M'soft to enable Word to open later versions...

Ah, Microsoft says it isn't supported anymore and it didn't work when I tried so.
