Hi, I am working on a new build that will have the i7 skylake and the recently announced gtx 1080/70. I'm wondering which mobo to go with. Msi gaming pro carbon http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16813130919. Or the gigabyte z170 gaming 7 http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E1681312883. Thank you

I think MSI has really stepped up its game, atleast in the case of the Gaming Pro carbon.. I have seen very rave reviews of the Pro Carbon.. just google "MSI Z170A Gaming pro carbon review".. Eteknix.com rates both the Pro Carbon as well as the Gaming 7 an EDITORS CHOICE award..

But the Gaming Pro carbon seems to have edged ahead in onboard audio as well as CPu-memory performance benchmarks.. see comparison:

On a side note.. Can't we here at Tomshardware with our standardized test-procedures as well as our huge database of tested product-results, implement a side-by-side comparison just like the above one at hardware.info..

It's sure to send all the...

They are both great quality and will do you great in overclocking. I would say just go with whichever one you like aesthetically.

It's sure to send all the pc-gaming enthusiasts to our doors for comparison of various components.. Might alleviate the noob-dilemmas as well..?? 🙂)

After checking out the link you posted, I think I'm going to go with the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon. My first build (4 years ago) used the MSI G55 mobo and it still is going strong with no problems ever. I had heard that Gigabyte was a good brand and thats why I was considering it for my next gaming rig. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/knc8FT (ignore the gpu, its there as a placeholder until the 1080/70 founders editions get released)
