Which mode should I set my AP to?

Hi there,

I would like to strengthen the WiFi signal on the second floor of my house because the ISP provided router/modem/access point has pretty terrible WiFi. I have a cable going up to a switch on the second floor to which I connected the TP-LINK TL-WA901ND that I purchased, but I'm not sure whether to use it in access point, repeater or client mode. I want it to work so that it provides WiFi to the second floor while the ISP provided router provides WiFi to the first floor with the same SSID and everything. But I don't want it to relay the wireless from the first floor router, but to take it over the cable and broadcast it to the second floor, if that makes any sense.

Sorry if I formulated this question like a retard, I'm a newbie when it comes to networking. Hopefully it makes some sense.

Thanks in advance.

You should set it to Access Point mode. That will create a second wireless network that will connect your upstairs directly to the internet without any extra wireless hops. Both of the other modes are for when you don't have a cable running to the Access Point.
