Hello, i looking to buy a new monitor roughly $200 and 1080p, i currently have a 60hz monitor but am looking to upgrade to a monitor with a higher refresh rate. considering that i have a Nvidia GTX 1060 there aren't a lot of games i get 144 FPS on, but i do get 144fps on some of the main games i play such as CSGO and Rainbow. it seems like a 120hz monitor would be a better option than a 144hz monitor for me considering that most of my games run at around 100 fps. i want the best 1080p gaming experience, i know that the colors are going to be a little more washed due to the switch from an IPS monitor to an LN monitor but will the colors be a lot worst on an 120hz monitor than a 144hz monitor? and are 120hz monitors still relevant?. Please link me affordable monitors 120hz and 144hz around the $200 range.

Solution
No need of 120hz.

The 24” $210 AOC G2460PF freesync 144hz. Reviews say good color, low input lag, 1ms. Some say it's the best screen they have ever had. Flicker-free so no headaches. Just reduce the blue color from 100% to 85% & you'll be fine for night use. This also darkens the screen as it is insanely bright.

*NOTE: When tuning your monitor's brightness and contrast, do it from the picture boost menu in the monitor's built in settings. make sure bright frame is turned on and the frame size is set to 100%. your picture will be really dim and grey otherwise.

*For beginners: make sure to set your monitor's refresh rate to 144hz in the windows display adapter properties menu. it will default to 75hz, which only gives displays 75 frames per second. google "ufo test" to make sure the settings are applied.

There are some color calibrations you can download from pcmonitors.com

"This monitor needs no extra drivers for Windows 10 when using DVI, but today I plugged it into a 280X using DisplayPort, and had to take out the CD to install drivers. The drivers on the CD didn't work; I had to download newer drivers from AOC's website."
