Hello everyone, I have got my choice of motherboard down to 2. Either the

or the

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/204534

I know the first one does not support crossfire, however I DO NOT plan on using two cards, and I really doubt I ever will. So does it have any other benefits? (Feel free to post other boards if you think theres better, bearing in mine i'm looking for a relatively cheap gaming pc. The gpu I have chosen is the hd 5770. Undecided on the CPU yet. suggestions very welcome too!)

Thanks

Hey thanks for the reply!

I am using it for new games, such as bcbf2, gta iv, ect. This is at a resolution of 1920x1080, however I do not need full ultra high settings, medium will do at that resoloution. So far I have chosen my gpu as the 1gb hd 5770, and the cpu as the AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2ghz.

My budget is around £450-550, so obviously I dont want the best of the best.

Not really planning on overclocking, nothing crazy if I do.

I will probably buy from ebuyer.co.uk.

Thanks!

I have seen this same option before and I recommended the 2nd one ( 890GX) for the slim chance that you may want to do crossfire ( although you are saying you won't ) or in case you got problem with your discrete video card, you still have an onboard graphics as back up. But it seems you are reluctant to spend the additional £10 for the 890GX.

Here is something that will probably sway you towards the 890GX.

Just buy the X3 440 instead of the X4 955 at half the price. So you save £66.

The reason why I recommend the X3 440 is because according to this article:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/athlon-ii-x3-440-gaming-performance,2619-11.html
...you don't need anything higher for a single GPU build ( more so on an HD5770 ).

With the £66 saving on the CPU, you can now afford to spend the extra £10 on the 890GX. But it is totally up to you, whichever motherboard you select, it will do you much good just to buy the X3 440 for your relatively cheap but well balanced gaming pc.

Thanks so much! I have gone with your advice and chosen the more expensive motherboard, however I think I will stick with my choice of cpu too, as I have heard such good reviews of it. Thanks again!
