Hey guys really stuck about which motherboard to go with in my new build, Either cheap out on a budget board - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007KZQFOS/ref=gno_cart_title_5 or spend an extra £85 on the http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-SKT-1155-Z77X-UD5H-Wi-Fi-Motherboard/dp/B007KZQFFC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

What I really want to know is does the second board have that many features over and above the budget board to justify the extra £85, my goal is to overclock the i5-3570K, I know both boards have the potential for overclocking but will the second board allow for better overclocking?

Thanks

Good advice from Pinhedd. Take it from someone who has gone budget parts in the past, you'll waste more money in the long run. I went cheap on my PSU and MoBo on my first build and have since replaced both.

Yup. Asus applies the same build and component quality to all of their mainstream motherboards. The price difference is reflected by the feature set.

Thanks for the input guys, boards look great. Only thing is my proposed build is for a hackingtosh so gigabyte is likely to be my only option.

My only concern between both boards is which is likely to overclock better?

Thanks

As far as I know there is nothing about the Asus boards which prevents them from being used in a hackintosh. They use a EFI firmware which is the main requirement. As for overclocking, Gigabyte is never a good solution for that. If you want the best overclocking you should get an Asus ROG motherboard such as the Maximus V
