Hi All,

I greatly appreciate your help with this.

I'm not sure if I should go for Z370 or Z390. Also, I'm not sure if I should go with Gigabyte or Evga. I like Gigabyte because my Z68 treated me so well. I like Evga because I plan on getting an EVGA GPU and EVGA support can't be beat.

Motherboard audio is important to me because I don't want to buy an additional sound card. Also, I don't care about WiFi. I'd like to have the ability to overclock but I probably won't overclock right away.

Motherboard choices are below:

Z370
Z390

The motherboard will be for the build below:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vKztr6

CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor ($375.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte - Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0) ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($218.50 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($339.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung - 860 Pro 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($92.99 @ Newegg Business)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB FTW3 GAMING iCX Video Card ($804.98 @ Newegg Business)
Case: Corsair - Crystal 460X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($79.67 @ OutletPC)

Thanks so much for you help!

From what I hear there really isn't much difference between z390 and z370 with the exception of a few more usb ports, and more beefy heat sinks to accommodate the new CPUs. Shouldn't make any difference for a 8700k.

Ok thanks so much. Can you please tell me if they all have similar audio quality or is one much better than the others for audio?

MERGED QUESTION
Question from JasonJJJ : "Z370 and Z390 motherboards with best on-board audio?"

Hi all,

I'm in the process of building a new comp. On-board audio is important to me. I don't care if it's RGB or not. I'd like to have the ability to overclock but I probably won't overclock right away.

Are any of the choices below good for on-board audio or is there a better option?

Z370
Z390

Off the top of my head I'm not sure. What you can do is under the specifications for the motherboard you can look at what the audio card/driver is that the motherboard uses (a lot of them use the same one). Then, you can look for a review on that component and see if it's good or not and compare.

And don't think that the more expensive the mobo, the better the sound quality. I got a $600 asus rampage extreme board once and the audio quality was uh... bad.

My apologies!
