Which of these 3 monitors do you recommend?

Hey all. I noticed that the backlight on my old 12M:1 LED Gateway FHX2402L is giving out. I'm at the point where I'm going to upgrade but want to make sure I'm making the best decision.

I'm going for 60hz as I rarely play FPS games and spend a lot of time playing games that hover around 45-55 fps on my GTX 970. Plus I can't really afford the extra $100-150 for 144hz.

The ASUS TN has 100M:1 which I assume would be a solid upgrade, but I'm curious if IPS is worth it.

Overall I'm looking for a colorful replacement as my current monitor is on the way out. It's 6 years old.

I would opt for the ASUS if only for the stand, plus 75Hz.

If you want an IPS panel sub $200 though, well I don't like missing out on basic monitor features.

Just a word of advice, "dynamic" contrast ratios (any numbers in the millions) are just made-up numbers. Almost all TN and IPS monitors have a contrast ratio of around 1000:1. If you want better contrast then you can try a VA monitor, which usually go up to about 3000-5000:1.

Basically takes independent review to get real contrast numbers with a consistent methodology. All the vendors just pick a test that lets them get a high number. Same with GtG response time measurements. They can do a lot of mess with those numbers, or have very poor white to black or color to color response times.

tftcentral.co.uk is my trusted resource for panel reviews, however, they don't tend to go down to this budget range. That ASUS panel might be on there though, since it would appeal to gamers.

I found that having an adjustable stand is about the best thing you can do for your neck, back and eyes. And having to stack a monitor on top of books and stuff is never a good idea. So that always goes into my minimum purchase plan, or at least a monitor with VESA capability to get my own stand.

Ah, you learn something everyday. I wondered why they all had fixed 1000:1 yet a larger differing number next to it.

Am I safe to assume that the ASUS I linked would be a quality upgrade over a 6-7 year old LED with 12:1M, even if that number is generally useless? I've noticed for months that all my friends have better colors when I view their monitors. Even my girlfriend's mid-range laptop has much striking colors and deeper blacks.
