Hello, I am about to purchase a gaming laptop. I was originally going to wait for the new cards to be put into them, but I feel as though August will be too late as I will be starting classes. If you think I should wait however, please tell me why!

I need a laptop that will last me 4+ years of good gaming, and that will last me on at least medium settings by the end of the 4 years so I could build myself a rig just in time after I finish college. My preferred price range is up to $2000, and I have narrowed it down to these ones. Which one should I get, and why?

1. https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-P35Xv5-SL4K2-15-6-Inch-i7-6700HQ-Aluminum/dp/B0195Y01U0/ref=sr_1_32?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1465527383&sr=1-32&keywords=gaming+laptop+gtx+980m&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A2423841011%2Cp_36%3A130000-210000

- I REALLY like that it's 4k, but I would prefer more ram.

2. https://www.amazon.com/Eluktronics-P650RG-G-Premium-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B01BRP5QJQ/ref=sr_1_43?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1465527383&sr=1-43&keywords=gaming+laptop+gtx+980m&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A2423841011%2Cp_36%3A130000-210000

- I wish it was 4k like the other one, but I really like the RAM, plus the reviews and the great sale. (If you feel the need to customize it at all please let me know in what way I should and why).

3. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-G9-591-70XR-15-6-inch-Notebook/dp/B0161CFAQY/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1465527164&sr=1-1&keywords=gaming+laptop+gtx+980m&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A2423841011%2Cp_36%3A130000-210000

- I still prefer the more RAM, plus it only has 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM...

If you have any other recommendations (I can go a few hundred over $2000) please let me know! Thanks!

Graphics Amp: http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/alienware-graphics-amplifier?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&sku=452-BBRG

- Another option would be to buy an Alienware 15 (we get a small discount on Dell products), and then down the road get the graphics amplifier? I could have a 970m like in this thing, and then eventually size up with a new card (probably the new AMD rx 480 or something of the sort.

Solution
Get the Acer Predator, the Alienware 15 with graphics amplifer is good, but it's way to much money. Plus amplifers are just coming out too, so I wouldn't bet on those for a laptop that needs to last long.

A few other good things about the predator is it's resolution, 1080P is the sweet spot for gaming. 4k is great like on the gigabyte notebook, but you can't game at 4k with any of the current notebooks out there today. Plus in 4 years the 980M will still be a good platform for 1080P gaming (you should still get high settings with no issues). I'd also get the IPS verson of that predator model aswell, you'll love it.

Also, that gigabyte model is a slimer system which = lots of heat and lots of throttling. For a laptop you need to...

That Eluktronics looks really good too, but I haven't heard of them really and because of that I can't recommend them. However, if you find great reviews from other sources on Eluktronics laptops (specifically that one), then by all means go for it if the predator doesn't suit you as well as the Eluktronics laptop.

I hope this helps!
