Which of these SSD's would be better on a SATA II Motherboard?

Okay, so I have a choice of 2 SSD Drives, and they are the Crucial v4 32GB and the Kingston v300 60GB. I'm not too bothered about the storage because it will be used as a boot drive as my current HDD is the bottleneck of my system. Reason I say this is because it reads up to 40 MB/s and writes up to 35 MB/s
My motherboard is a GA-78LMT-USB3 by Gigabyte, and it has SATA II ports.

The Crucial v4 is a SATA II device with a read speed of up to 200 MB/s and a write of up to 60MB/s.

The Kingston however is a SATA III device with read and write of up to 450MB/s. Now evreyone knows that the Kingston is quicker with SATA III support, but I want to know which would be better for a SATA II environment.
Will running a SATA III Kingston on a SATA II board slow it down, or will it slow it down but still be faster than the crucial? If you get what I mean.

If I do get the V300, will it just be limited to read with a speed of 300 MB/s instead of 450 MB/s or will it be slower?

Basically, between these two SSD's which would be faster with the Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3?

I would go with the kingston. Even without the higher speeds of sata3, it's twice the size for only £10.00 more, and if you ever upgrade the motherboard or get a new system, it will be able to take advantage of the faster interface. Running a sata3 drive on a sata2 port won't cause any problems, you are just limited to the lower speeds.

SATA 2 (3Gb/s) SSDs are "old tech". You want to get a SATA 3 (6Gb/s) SSD even though you will be connecting it to a SATA 2 port.
SATA 3 SSDs have better firmware, are more reliable/compatible, and have better drive longevity.

Yes, a SATA 3 SSD will be limited to SATA 2 speeds if it is connected to a SATA 2 port.

It is unlikely that you'll ever see the max theoretical speeds of any bus, so I wouldn't count on that. Your speeds will really depend on what kind of transfers you are doing (the size of the files, whether the data is compressible or not, that kind of thing). I would think that the kingston would outperform the crucial in any given workload, but the numbers will not always be near the peak. You'll be fine running a SATA III drive in a II interface, I have my Toshiba Q Pro 128GB in a II port on my q6600 setup right now (fx8320 on it's way 😀) and it max out around 250-275MB/s read.

edit: You'll love the SSD, they are amazing. I can never go back to a mechanical system disk again.
