Which build is better for the price? The system is to be used mostly for speed, smooth rendering (as possible for the $), video editing, After Effects, 3DS Max, Adobe suite, etc. and some gaming.

Build A: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Ja2F
This is the one I kind of already bought all the parts for and they are on their way.

Build B: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2J6bw
This one is a build that was recommended to me over my build (Build A) by Twitter user @MakeMyRig after I purchased the parts.

Potentially I could just swap out the parts to make the recommended build. But is it worth it? Which system do you guys think will give me the best bang for my buck? Thanks!

All right, then what you've got already is perfect. Next year you may be able to get an 8-core CPU for the next build :bounce:

Please pick a solution...
The build you've got will do better in games, thanks to a more powerful GPU.
The second build will do better in work-related activities. In your case, I guess it would have been somewhat better indeed.

Still, both builds are excellent for both your type of work and gaming.

Build B is better for heavy rendering/etc work, but I wouldn't change your order if from an online store.

To change it now you may have some shipping/restocking costs and will have a delay in getting the new parts. Unless returning the entire order A and getting all new parts - if something is DOA and you can't test until the parts from order B arrive - you may be beyond the return period.

I'd also want to know how much of the time the CPU will be left to work on something. If you are hobbyist and spend hour or two 'playing' with photoshop... order A is more than good enough. On the other hand if you are sitting waiting for x layers to redraw and need it to send to a paying client - build B will be more productive for you.

Thanks for all the feed back guys!

I should have mentioned I am a hobbyist and I'm actually getting into video FX because I have a strong desire to do it and I take well to it but my current PC can't keep up. So I would like something high end but nothing crazy yet.

I plan to do another build in the future if VFX gives back to me enough, one with over clocking, custom cooling loop etc.
