Which one is faster? E5 2643 V2 vs E52643 V3

Hi guys,

We are going to build a high performance server which need only 10 cores but really need each core be fast. (We use 2 CPU)
We found E5 2643 V2 or 2643 V3 should be our choice, and need your help which one is best for our computing performance.

1. If compare the performance of 2643 v2 and v3, which will perform better when full load run with 6 cores?

2. How to control CPU run into Turbo mood? How can setup and let all cores of 2643 v2/v3 reach the highest setup computing capability. (I'm using the default setup now.)

Especially for v2, I am curious how to max the compute speed of all 6 cores?
(I think the full load should be 3800/3700/3600*4 on 2643 V2)

3. Could I please know if 2643 V3 will get all cores running on 3700 during the Turbo mood? And which (linux) tool could let me monitor it?

4. What board can best fit 2643 v2/v3 and ensure best performance? What's the suggested memory mode? How much can the memory parameter setup optimize the performance?

For instance on the V3 -- it will clock 1 or 2 cores to 3.7 and more than 2 cores loaded -- 3.6 Ghz.

so for first question, do you think 2643 V2 is faster than 2643 V3 even lower memory bandwidth? (our work is not memory band)

The V2 has 5MB more cache than the V3 and 100Mhz clock speed advantage. The V3 has a faster QPI link so communication between the two CPUs will be faster. Is this going to be a large memory build >256GB? If so the faster QPI link and the faster DDR4 might be beneficial.

Have you benchmarked your application to determine that 6 cores (or 12 with a dual socket motherboard) is the correct number?
