Which one of these 6600's should I get? Please only include the top four, the bottom 2 are not in stock. I was leaning towards the XFX card since it is a pretty trusted brand, but it looks like it is basically just a reference card, and a couple of the other brands there look to have came up with some pretty decent looking cooling options. What do you think?

Definitely worth your time to read <A HREF="http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2295" target="_new">this</A> 6600 GT review.

Thanks for the link, but I had already read that article. It doesn't mention all of those cards, so I still feel a little lost. The only one that I have seen a lot of positive stuff about is the XFX, so I think I will go with that. It is supposed to have the memory clocked to 1000mhz stock, unlike some of the 6600 GT's that come stock at 900mhz. I have also read some pretty good OC results from it.

Not to muddy the water, but I went with the PNY GeForce 6600GT AGP 128 DDR3. One reason was $$$. Caught on sale and $30 rebate = $179.99. Another reason was that this card is pretty close to nvidia's reference card. I'm not into overclocking on a regular basis - I just want (reliable) stated performance from stock settings.

The pleasant surprise is when I did the coolbits registry tweak. I chose the detect optimal frequencies - it went from 500MHz core/900MHz mem to 554MHz/1.01GHz and has been flawless since.

Will I ever notice that difference? Probably not. It has a 3 year warranty (provided you register the product); but I change video cards around 18-24 months so this plan fills my needs.

The cards you listed are all probably great cards - depending on what your intentions are would be the 'wiggle' factor in your decision process.

Thanks Sobe, and truth be told, I had ordered a PNY 6600 GT on Monday from CompUSA. But after 4 days with it not shipping and getting the run around from their "customer service" reps, I cancelled the order and decided to get one from a well respected company, newegg. NEVER shop at CompUSA!!

And I do plan on overclocking the card, I just have hard a time not unlocking the extra potential in my PC components 😉 My OLD P4 2.26 is now running at 2.7ghz and I plan on adding more when I have time to mess with it. But I should be getting a newer P4 soon anyway. Thanks for the suggestion 😉
