Just built a new computer with the following specs:
i7 4770k
maximus vii hero
8gb (2x4gb) ddr3 gskill sniper
SSD samsung 840 evo 500gb
1TB Seagate SATA3
ASUS GTX 780

I want to know which OS is better to install? 7 or 8.1
I will be playing games, including the old counter strike and new games such as watch dogs and other that will be released.
Thank you

8.1 pro 64bit if it fits your budget or 8.1 64 bit. I read a good pro & con just a few days ago,
Several comparisons, bottom line was 8.1 was better choice.

I have no problem on budget, so windows 8.1 pro is better than the old windows 7?
Should I install it as UEFI also?
I am using the whole SSD for windows and "common games", and the HDD for files and other games.

Unless you are in a corporate environment, no need for the extra money for Pro. Performance is no different than regular Win 8.

What you get with the Pro version is:
BitLocker, ability to join a domain, and ability to host a Remote Desktop Connection.

Game performance is zero difference.

Hi - UEFI is just a new vernacular for motherboard BIOS. So, you would install Win 8.1 just like you'd install
any OS. Assuming you have an optical drive, you go to boot order on startup & set the 1st boot device as
the optical drive (CD/DVD), then save n close. Insert the Win 8.1 disc in the drive & boot up. Win will take care of itself after that.

I suggest you install the SSD only before Windows install, and after the Windows installation is complete,
then install your hdd. Then don't forget to go back into boot order (in BIOS at startup) & set SSD as 1st
priority on boot.
