Which PCI Express slot for GPU??

Hi

Ive just bought an Asus Z270F Gaming MB and about to install everything however, my old MB only had 1 PCI Express for the GPU so there was no choice. This Asus has 2, Does it matter which i plug the GPU into?

I would prefer the bottom slot as there is more fresh airflow in my case at the bottom as the top is used as exhuast.

Correct - it does not make a difference which slot you use - just choose whichever is best for cooling purposes.

Check the manual - section 1.1.5:

Slot 2 is PCI-E x16.
Slot 5 is PCI-E x8.

It also looks like you can only use the slot 2 if using a single GPU (see top of page 1-8).

if both slots can be used then in theory you should use the x16 slot but I doubt you'll see much difference performance in real life.

That first full slot is built for the GPU, the 2nd for an SLI'd GPU. In most cases i'm sure it'll get the better airflow in slot 1.

Technically - yes. But in real world scenarios the difference will be hard to spot.

My 2 intake fans at the front are at the bottom of my case and I think it looks better
