I am new to the world of PC builds and finally I am building my own one. Since I will use it mostly for gaming, game developing and graphics design, what would be better between a 1000W or a 850W PSU 80+ gold ? I will for sure overclock it and I don't know if 850W will be enough or not.

My build until now is this:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • COOLER: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 240 A-RGB
  • MB: Asus PRIME X870-P WIFI
  • GPU: Gigabyte WINDFORCE MAX OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
  • RAM: 4X Corsair Vengeance RGB 16 GB DDR5-6000 CL30
  • STORAGE: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 (I will buy one more)
  • CASE: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case

At this exact time, I would say it depends on the price. Many of the 850W PSUs have been purchased with this latest wave of PC building brought about by the launch of the 50 series.

You should stick to 2x32GB memory if you want 64GB, getting 4 sticks to work together at 6000 is going to be tricky.

I would go ahead and get the 2TB SSD now.

Cheapest I see right now worth considering is the Thernaltake Toughpower GF1 850W. GF3 TT 850W, GF A3. MSI MAG 850GL. MSI MPG A850G. be quiet! Pure Power 12 M. But then at that same price is the Super Flower Leadex Titanium 850W and a Super Flower Leadex V Platinum 1000W. MSI MAG A1000GL around the same price.

At least in the US market, tough time to be PSU shopping.
