Which processor has the most single core power?

Hi all, I am buying a new PC for my node development. Most of the build tools uses huge amount of single core power and as you might know node is mostly single threaded. So which processor will give me most single core power under £300-£320?

Intel's consumer grade lineup has the same single core performance across its i3s, i5s, and i7s. What you should get pretty much depends on how many cores you need.

The i7 6700k has the best single threaded performance.

But an i3-6320 is within only 4% slower than it in single threaded performance for about half the price.
