Microsoft Office will run very nicely with even a low-end Sandy Bridge CPU. A Core i3 2100 would be fine. It will run some games, but not all.

If you want a no-risk very fast top-of-the-line machine, maybe the Core i7 2600 might suit you. It will run any game, even without over-clocking.

That's a lot of MoBo for your stated usage. You could easily get by with the P8P67-M

For the "top of the line" the Deluxe is a great board but if gaming is a priority, just $20 more gets you the Asus WS Revolution which gives wider bandwidth for hi end GFX cards.

You can get in a combo with the CPU here

$555 w/ i7-2600k http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.660789
$465 w/ i5-2500k http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.660792

I'd get the 2600 only if tackling workstation type apps that take advantage of hyperthreading such as Photo / video editing, large databases, 3D rendering etc.
