Which PSU (and modular if possible) should I need for my config ?

Hi,

I recently bought a new config :

AMD FX8350 4Ghz
GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD5 (motherboard)
Kingston CL9 HyperX 8Gb dual channel (memory)
Sapphire VaporX HD7950 3Gig DDR5 Boost

So even without doing OC on the AMD FX or on the graphics card, which PSU shall I need ?

Thanks for your quick response.

I saw that FX 8350 may consume up to 260W at maximum load (without any overclocking), and on the Sapphire technical sheet, it's recommended to get a 500W PSU for the GPU only.
(as per http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-8350-core-i7-3770k-gaming-bottleneck,3407-8.html)

So to be fine at the end maybe I shall rather take 750W ?

Please advice

GPU companies state their unit recommended PSUs based on extreme conditions such as a heavily OC'd CPU and GPU with 20 sata drives connected to MB and 10+ application opened at the same time on 24/7 system, to cover themselves from reliability.

The 7950 uses 320w at MAX load :
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/2050/11/

so a quality 350w PSU would be enough.

CPU power consumption is really under these numbers, 8350 actually consumes 136w-195w under load :
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/FX-8350_Piledriver_Review/4.html
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6396/the-vishera-review-amd-fx8350-fx8320-fx6300-and-fx4300-tested/6

So a 500w PSU will be enough for ordinary use, the 620w value is for CFX and/or OC (if you want to).

BEST LUCK

you missed a HUGE point in the link you provided, which is that the tested system had 2xHD7970 in CFX :
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-8350-core-i7-3770k-gaming-bottleneck,3407-2.html

Where in this case the power consumption chart provided makes sense because the crossfire consumes higher power rates than a single card, and since you have only 1 GPU and even if you're OC'ing both cpu & gpu you'll still have plenty of power for your system..

Thanks for your reply again ... Indeed I missed the fact GPU was a set of 2 HD7970 cards ... in my case I finally ordered a Sapphire VaporX 7950 Boost and for the power supply I found a CoolerMaster Silent Pro M2 720W which seems sufficient even if I decide to add another GPU card in the future ... (in case this setup is still not powerful :D )
