Hi guys,

First time buying a PSU in years so a little help needed. After looking through the latest PSU Tier list I have fully committed to Tier 1. With that, I decided to go for a Corsair. No real reason why, I'm just slightly more familiar with that brand.

So, I have been looking at either this;

Corsair CP-9020072-UK HX750i 750W ATX/EPS

or this;

Corsair CP-9020092-UK RM750X 750W ATX/EPS

In terms of what it would be powering, that's a bit up in the air at the moment. I *think* I have a dead motherboard, but it remains to be tested with a proper PSU. So this new PSU will be powering this;

i7 Sandy Bridge
Asus P8Z68-V LX
1 x GTX 970

If the motherboard is dead, it will be powering this;

Z97 (not sure which one yet)
1 x GTX 970 (but certainly two in the future)

Personally I have recently purchased the Corsair HXi 750 and I am very happy with it.
Both the HXi and RM are produced for Corsair by Channel Well Technologies which is a very good company.
The HXi is built to a higher standard and you get what you pay for.
There are independent thorough reviews available on the internet so that you can do your own research and decide what you want to pay for.
There will always be someone else who will recommend something different but I have set out to answer your question with my personal experience.
One of my PCs has a 850watt PSU built by Channel Well Technologies for Gigabyte around 6 to 7 years ago and it is still working well.
