Hello, I know it is a silly question but I really wanted to confirm myself through experts' guidance. I'm currently using an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-42 which came with an 8GB Hynix 2400Mhz. However, I'm always left with nearly 3.2 GB free :( .

So, I've been looking at these two RAMS for upgrade:

1)https://www.amazon.in/Crucial-8GB-D...ram+laptop&qid=1614143465&s=computers&sr=1-12

2)https://www.amazon.in/HyperX-HX424S...+ram+laptop&qid=1614143465&s=computers&sr=1-8

However, the HyperX one is CL14, and I don't know if it will be okay to equip a CL14 with my existing C17 factory RAM, although the speeds are same. Also, many reviewers have complained that they got 2133mhz instead of 2400mhz with the HyperX one, after installation.

I'm really confused about which one to go with; please suggest me which would be the best choice. Thank You.

When it comes to upgrading ram for laptops it can very difficult unlike desktops. It’s posible to mix ram that has different timings and clock speeds, but your bios would have to run the speeds at which ram has the slowest one for example

  1. 8-8-8-24 1600mhz
  2. 9-9-9-24 1333mhz

If those were mixed your bios would run it at number 2 since it’s the slowest. But laptops are a different story so with your case it’s best to buy the same ram stick that is installed within your laptop already, or buy a 16gb kit that is compatible with your laptop because if either of those sticks don’t work with your laptop it can be a pain and a waste of time.

You can search up your laptop and it’s model to see what ram is compatible, but make sure it’s the same fact model or else you’ll end up getting the wrong one.

Something like this for example
