Which revision motherboard do I have?

I bought the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 online and the ad said revision 4.0 but when I load up Speccy it says Chipset Revision 02.

Does this mean this is a revision 2? I was looking into maybe buying the FX-9000 series later on which is only compatible with the revision 4, is there a more definite way for me to check?

The revision number should be printed somewhere on the motherboard.

Chipset Revision is the revision number of the actual chip on the mainboard. The mainboard version number is different from that.

My ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Gene mainboard is version 1.03, but my chipset (Intel Skylake) is revision 07 and my Skylake PCH Southbridge is revision 31 according to CPU-Z.

And yes, the mainboard version will be printed on the top side of the board somewhere.

Alright awesome, and the Revision 4 is compatible with FX 9000 CPUs right?

If it's revision 4.0 or 4.1, then it will support the two 9000-series FX CPUs according to their CPU Support Lists.

I went to the web site and looked at the board pictures. If you click on the mainboard picture it will take you to where you can see a zoomed-in version. In that, you can see that the revision number is in the bottom left corner under where it says Designed in Taipei. Check yours out to make sure.
