I appreciate any advice, I feel lost
I will upgrade my desktop PC soon. I am reading about the parts since one week now, but still I feel lost.
First of all I have ATX/microATX case, Corsair 600W PSU and MSI GTX 6600ti (it is 3.0 interface). Ans Samsung EVO SSD 250GB. I want to re-use all of those parts.
Second thing is, I want to upgrade because my rig is quite old, with 1.0 GPU interface, no usb 3.0 and intel 775 socket. I would like to play The Witcher 3. Or Minecraft (on max settings+mods/shaders) which is impossible with this CPU. And I want my new set to serve me even longer that my current one. I do not need to play games like GTA V, but I would love to be prepared if some of my favorite franchise would re-activate.
1.About CPU, I am thinking of i7 3770K. I surely do not need more cores than 4, but for Minecraft single core frequency is most important as far as i know. Overclocking past 4ghz would fit. I do not know if this is best choice for my needs / budget though.
2.I have no idea which MB I need. I do not need more than 2 6gb/s Sata and 2x USB3.0.
But I would really appreciate nice audio quality. Probably I need socket 1155. And if I would pay 10 pounds more for some magic technologies that will improve data flow (minecraft world loading) I would go for it.
3.If it comes to RAM, 16GB is what I need, but probably 1600 speed would be ok (I am not sure if more will help me with that Mainecraft stuff either).
4.I have no idea hot to cool that stuff, or if 600W PSU will be right.
I am open for hunting for used parts. I would be realy happy If I could fit in let's say... 300-400 £ ~500$. Overclocking is welcomed, especially for CPU ghz. But most important of all, to not burn those parts. I am pretty sure I will not need to upgrade anything past that in another 10 years.
And my money source will end soon as well.
(Too long to read, but if that may help:
My current parts are MSI G41M-P28 with Intel Core 2 quad Q9650, Kingston 1066 DDR3 2x4GB, Also, I have Windows 7 retail)
Thank You so much for any hints that will make me closer to my new PC, really <3
