thinking about upgrading my 5 month:
- ryzen 1600
- msi gtx 1050 gaming X
to an RX 570 or 580 for ONLY 1080p Gaming.

1- since it is ONLY going to be 1080p Gaming, for the next 2 years should i get 4Gb or 8Gb, i know the 8Gb is 100% safe but any thoughts about 4Gb will be enough or not ?

2- i have noticed an important price ( between 205-225€) drop in some rx 570 and rx 580 8Gb versions, they look cheap of course but are they weak in a point that i should avoid them ?
-- MSI RX 570 ARMOR 8G OC ( the normal white/black version not the Mk2 ) SCREEN
-- Asrock RX 570D Phantom Gaming 8GB DOC ( not the phantom gaming X ) SCREEN
-- XFX RX 570 RS Black Edition 8GB
-- PowerColor RX 580 Red Dragon V2 8GB

i know these are not Asus strix or the other fancy version , but they are priced very cheap for 8Gb compared to the rest, like -35€

3- if none of these cards are good enough, i will get a Nitro+ / Pulse / Asus rx 570/580 4Gb card priced at 180-200€.

any thoughts ?

Go for the PowerColor RX 580 Red Dragon V2 8GB, even if its from a 2nd trademark it its still a better option than any other card on the list and its probably the best card you can get with that budget.
thanks both for your time,
i just noticed another great price , "8GB PowerColor Radeon RX 570 Red Dragon" for 175€ !! while the 4GB is 210€, this is scary to some point.

@madmatt30 rx 570 4gb are 175 to 200€ depend on version and brand. they are all fine
rx 580 4gb are from 190 to 210€ same dependence.

@Ramlethal an 8GB is absolutely safe but its 45€ more if a good brand. since my currency is 3.2 X euro, that 40€ is a huge difference for me.

i really dont know what to do, if the 4Gb will be enough for 2 years am down for it, i get a good brand and cheap. but if not am not gonna upgrade again so 8GB now is good. what you think ?

Rx 580 is so much better than 570, also better than 1060ti in Direct x 12 games

Will you use over 4gb probably never, but the 8gb cards normally OC better if thats what you want to do
No games use over 4GB in 1080 and they never will. When you look at the 1080p market its - 3/4/6/8 - and the 6/8 from the 1060ti and 580 is also used for 1440p

As I said , if budget is an issue take the 4gb 580 over ANY 8gb 570 at a similar price.

The fact its a stronger card will give more future proofing than the extra vram.

The only issues ive seen with gpu's with less than 6gb vram is the inability to run ultra resolution texture packs ,primarily on the mordor & doom games.

At 1080p you'll have no issue with 4gb vram ram at all imo.

Well... in therms of 2nd brand componnents its more a Lottery than any other thing lol. You can just purchase something that is terribly bad or either extremly good and with a very surprising price.
As i said, its not frecuent to have 6gb of Vram consumed but... i wouldnt recommend a 4 GB on a 1080p gaming setup that would last 2 years either.
And the reasons are simple: Its a 2 year investment, Most attractive tittles like For honor, CSGO 2019 (with the big update that will incluide a new graphic motor) & Battlefield 5 will for sure consume more than 4gb.
With 1080p Gaming becoming more and more a standard and GPUS coming out are going insane (like 11 to 12 gbs of Vram) i wouldnt just risk a little bit on purchasing a 4gb one, when there is a (+20%? difference). Its basically like risking the entire investment just for a little 20%... I just wouldnt do it. ill go safe cause thats the most reasonable choise in my opinion.

I decided to look at a more modern game, since I really don't read Game Reviews but out of game reviews Guru3d does it best, so I looked at one of the latest games and how much Vram it uses = I was surprised

Short Answer = 8Gb is better, but doesn't mean that 4Gb is bad!

even PUBG is using 4300 --> 5000 Vram on 1080p RX 580 8gb,
now am between RX 580 4gb ( Nitro+ / Pulse ... ) or PowerColor RX 570 8gb Red Dragon.
the problem is there is no review for the Powercolor rx 570 at all.

I have done the exact same thing recently, went from a GTX 670 to RX 580 8GB. In fact the exact model you listed, PowerColor RX 580 Red Dragon V2 8GB.
Looked at plenty of reviews and the RX580 is the much more capable card, and will future proof you somewhat. The price difference between it and lesser cards is next to nothing as well, so it was a no brainer.

Amazon UK and Overclockers.co.uk both have it listed for £209 - about €239

Yplou shouldnt be expectimg max settings with a rx 580 on newish titles , high or very high yes but not ultra or max.

If you can afford a 8gb 580 fair enough, if its a toss up between a 4gb 580 or a 8gb 570 then all im saying is forveg the vram difference & take the stronger card.

I have a 8gb pulse 580 in one rig, my downstairs lounge rig has a 4 year old gtx 970, a card that was dismissed,as having 3.5gb vram, that 970 still outperforms a 8gb rx 570 today.

Vram is not the be all & end all.

the Powercolor RX 580 8gb is famous and 248€ where am looking 🙁
but the rx 570 8gb is 177€ but i can't find any reviews to decide.

i know the rx 580 4gb is faster than rx 570 8gb for now, by 3-4 fps thats 5% at maximum
but when the game will use more than 4gb Vram like we are talking, the rx 570 with its 8gb Vram will be faster and smoother.

You likely wont find reviews of the exact model of card you are looking at, however that doesn't really matter, as the differences are generally so small you wouldn't notice them in the real world.
It's the GPU that is being used that's important, so any review that compares any RX 570 vs any RX 580 will likely hold true in almost all cases, regardless of model/manufacturer.

Since you are in the eurozone, you should be able to order from any site within the eurozone, just check if delivery charges apply or not.

I play modern titles, such as Doom, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, PUBG, Battlefield 5, all pretty much maxed out at 1920x1200 with very good frame rates, so you cant go wrong if you can stretch your budget a little.

the rx 580 with a mild overclock will keep up and pass a Gtx 1060 which can handle 1080p 60hz gaming on ultra settings with nearly any title. the 8gb rx 580 will support vr. However, the rx 570 will handle high settings 1080p just fine so it really just comes down to budget. a rx 580 can probably handle SOME high refresh rate gameplay. really just get what you can afford and keep in mind that both use ridiculous amounts of power. also for the best prices check newegg/amazon/local stores(hard to tell which will have the best prices rn)

Go for the PowerColor RX 580 Red Dragon V2 8GB, even if its from a 2nd trademark it its still a better option than any other card on the list and its probably the best card you can get with that budget.

back again with interresting updates:
- 8GB PowerColor Radeon RX 570 Red Dragon 159€ (can be a bad model, noise+heat)
- 8GB Sapphire Radeon RX 570 Nitro + 189€
- 8GB Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Nitro + 209€

i know the rx580 8gb is best considering price/performance and also my country low currency, the 159€ rx 570 is 7-9% slower but 50€ difference is incredible

Hello i am currently in pretty much the same situation. Sorry for writing almost an year since the last post here, but if you accidentally happen to be still active on the forum may i ask you with which gpu did you decide to go in the end and how well it went. Thank you very much in advance.
