Hi friends

I'm installing a Blu-Ray optical drive into my new PC, but I'm very confused as to which SATA connector I'm supposed to use.

My Motherboard (Gigabyte X79-UD4) has a mixture of SATA II and SATA III internal connectors, and the drive is the Pioneer BDR-208EBK. It just says SATA on it so I'm not sure how to go about doing this.

Any tips or advice?

SATA II means that it has a maximum transfer rate of 3 Gbps. Sata III is 6 Gbps (has 2x the max throughput). This is important especially with SSD's which are very fast hard drives so you get the fastest speeds but optical drives are so slow that they won't even max the Sata II port. This means that it doesn't matter which one you plug it into because they are both compatible.
