Which semi-budget CPU to pair with a GTX 1080 Ti?

Hi all,

I recently bought a GTX 1080 Ti for quite a cheap price (~500€). I don't really need a GPU this powerful but since I got it for so cheap I figured why not. Also my old R9 390 broke a while back so I needed a new GPU. I'm now upgrading my whole system and trying to figure out what CPU I should buy (I also need to buy a new mobo and RAM as well since my current setup is AM3+ based). I don't need the most powerful CPU but something that can run games 60+ fps consistently, preferably on maxed settings of course. Right now I'm thinking of something along the lines of Ryzen 5 2600X or something similar. Any ideas?

That or an Intel i5 are your best bets for gaming. The R5 is certainly cheaper though.

Honestly, BOTH Intel and AMD builds will be able to do 60+ FPS in most games @ 1080p and 1440p with ease.

What's your budget?

I just game. My budget for the CPU is around ~250ish, something along those lines. The Ryzen 5 2600X costs 230€ where I live, whereas the i5-9600k costs 320€. So I'm leaning a bit more towards AMD.

go with ryzen5 1600-1600x-1700-1700x they all good and cost less than 200bucks.
for mobo go with b350 msi tomahawk .
