Which SSD should i get ?

Hello guys,

I'm thinking between those two SSDs
SAMSUNG 840 EVO Basic 120 GB (540/410 MB/s)
INTEL Series 520 120 GB (550/520 MB/s)

I'm gonna use them for my OS, and for one or maybe two games.
Which one should i get ?

Or should i invest more money and get a better one.

Samsung and Intel are both good.
You could buy either.
In a desktop environment, they perform the same.
A 120gb ssd is minimum, and it looks to meet your needs.
But, 120gb will fill up quickly.
A SSD will slow down and lose endurance once it approaches full.
Many things want to go on the "C" drive.
I suggest you look at a Samsung evo. you can get a 250gb for $120.

If you say so, i could spend some money and get 250gb, but their prices are insane here, 120gb is more than 100$ here, 250gb is almost 200$.
There is also Intel 530 series, should i consider them or there isnt noticable difference over 520.

Is that true, that, bigger SSD is better SSD, in terms of quality, speed and durability.
I know they cant last like HDD, but can they hit 3-4 years ? 😀

And ye, WoW plus OS plus some programs, about 60gb would be taken, rest would go on HDD.

I just saw a conv where people said that due to WoW's constant writes and reads, you are actually wearing out your SSD, and reducing it's lifespan. Is that true ?

I'm a bit worried cause i wanted to buy it only for OS and WoW 😀

Intel 530 id fine.
I tend to like Samsung and intel because they make their own parts and should be better able to manage quality.
Performance of all major ssd's are essentially the same. server type benchmarks with high queue levels can tell some difference, but a desktop user does things mostly one at a time.
In desktop usage, you can expect 10 years heavy usage. A current ssd will be long obsolete by them.
Do not worry about using it up.
A larger ssd has more nand chips. It can access more of them in parallel for slightly higher sequential reads.
More importantly, a larger ssd will have more free nand chips to do updates to, increasing it's longevity.
Because a ssd has no moving parts, I expect one to last longer than a hard drive.

@geofelt .. I think ill get samsung. 128gb evo basic(the one u recommended), only because i don't have more money at the moment, and i really don't need it for heavy usage, just wow. xD

I understand that 250gb has longer life span, but is it really that big difference ?
