I'm going to have a little extra money to spend soon and I want to use some of it for new PC parts.
My current PC specs:
FX 8120
12GB RAM 1333MHz
GTX 770 2GB
880g pro3 motherboard
Corsair TX750 V2 PSU
2TB HDD
120GB SSD
NZXT Gamma classic series case

Upgrades I'm considering:
1. New AM3+ Motherboard that has an 8+2 Phase VRM so I can overclock my FX 8120.

2. New LGA 1150 z87 or Z97 Motherboard and Core i5 4670K CPU so I can have smoother gameplay in my games and have the best computer out of all my friends and family.

3. New LGA 1150 z87 or Z97 Motherboard and Core i7 4790K CPU. So my PC can handle 8 threads incase games utilize more cores soon. Also I'll have the best computer out of all my friends and family.

4. New AM3+ Motherboard that has an 8+2 Phase VRM so I can overclock and an FX 8320.

Solution
Go with the 4790k build. More recent games, such as Watch Dogs, Shadow of Mordor, and The Evil Within, are asking for i7s as recommended CPUs in the system requirements.

Number two or three for sure, with a good Z97 board.

The 4690K is great right now if you're just gaming. We don't know when games will start to truly utilize more threads, though.

If you want to 'future proof' your build, the 4790K may be the way to go.

What kind of motherboard would you recommend? I've been looking at this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157506&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

I recommend the Asus Z97-A.

Asus z97-A is the best of Asus mid level boards and has the easiest bios to navigate for newer users. Asus suite software also has some good features especially the fan xpert3 which is by far the best fan controller software of any mobo manufacturer.
