So, not sure if it's because of the holiday season, or because deals are starting to come out, but my wife & I were talking about getting a new gaming console. Currently, we have the Wii, which we have enjoyed for a number of years...but recently it's been acting kind of funky on the in-game menus. So, she said that if I wanted to, I could look into getting a new console as long as it had a "good deal".
Now before anyone says anything, I'm leaning towards XBox One for the following reasons:
In any case, I know I want an XBox One...I'm just not sure which one to get. I know I'll need to make sure I get at least a 2nd controller, & I'll have to get an external storage drive (although how soon I'll have to do that will probably depend on the storage that comes with the version I get). But I'm not sure whether to get the older S (which my nephew has) or the X:
In terms of games, I'd be looking for sure to start off with Battlefront II, probably at least something else like CoD: Infinite Warfare/Modern Warfare 4 or Overwatch, & at least one of the LEGO games (Star Wars Complete Saga, Pirates of the Caribbean, or Indiana Jones). And like I said, I'll probably (eventually) get the external drive, but the choice of system (i.e. 500GB vs. 1TB) might mean the difference in waiting.
So, should I go for one of the S deals, or go for the X?
Now before anyone says anything, I'm leaning towards XBox One for the following reasons:
■ Playstation doesn't have any "exclusive" games that I'm interested in, but XBox does (Halo series).
■ Nintendo doesn't have any that I'm really interested in either. We originally bought the Wii because my wife thought the motion controllers were cool (& she loves Just Dance 2), but our other primary reason for the Wii (access to Netflix & Amazon Video) has long gone away with our use of Roku boxes & sticks.
■ My nephew has an XBox One S, & just bought Star Wars Battlefront II -- in fact, he not only bought it on launch day, he spent the first 3 hours after school playing it, & invited us over specifically so that I could play it with him. It's not the only game he's been playing, but I would imagine it would be a lot easier for us to play in online matches if we're using identical/similar platforms (i.e. both on XBox) than if I was playing it on a PS4.

But I'm not sure whether to get the older S (which my nephew has) or the X:
■ We don't currently have any Blu-Ray discs, so whether or not there's a difference between the disc players in both consoles isn't going to matter to us.
■ Both Amazon Prime & the local Micro Center are advertising the 500GB XBox One S for $190. Amazon is also offering a plain 1TB S for $308; Micro Center has bundle versions (Assassin's Creed Origins or GoW 4) for $300, but aside from the 1TB drive neither game really interests me.
■ Both Amazon & Micro Center have the X for $500.
