It depends on what games you are playing. They are very close in terms of performance. Either one will be fine.

GTX 660 Is of 169$
While R9 270x is 189$ at Newegg.
I would say to save 20 bucks more and get a r9 270x,

The stats at the bottom of this page should help you decide. Also read the comments. People seem to be unhappy with the drivers for AMD and the 270 (artifacting).

I'd go with the GTX 660.
