40K, because there are no Squats. 😛

Seriously though, Sci-Fi is my first love and it's easy enough to play.

If "other" includes "self" then I suspect many of the people who've

Since I'm a hamburger everyday rather than steak once a week kind of guy,
I'd stick with 40k. There's far more gamers around me, assuring me that I'd
be able to play often.

You lack.

Mord is tempting, but to get any sort of replay value out of it you need a
gamesmaster and a campaign, so it's not a pick-up-and-play sort of game. I've
yet to find anyone away from the internet who's actually played the current
incarnation of Epic, so it would be a struggle to get any games in. Therefore
it has to be WFB for several reasons:

- Better overall miniatures range (IMO)

- Solid rules derived from tried-and-tested (if old-fashioned) historicals,
rather than something invented from scratch by GW, makes for a better game IMO.

- More variety in the armies, both in the number of major armies and the range
of playing styles, than in 40k.

- I prefer the pseudo-historical fantasy fluff for atmosphere (though some 40k
fluff is arguably more inventive or at least less blatantly pilfered).

- Tanks are all very well, but 40k armies just don't look like big forces in
the same way as WFB armies of ranked regiments, even when they have as many
models, and WFB armies tend to look more imposing and coherent on the
battlefield.

large numbers of GW miniatures of all types, but I'd
totally ditch their rules in favor of Crunchy Frog Enter-

which were designed from the outset to enable players
to experiment with scenarios just like this: take a tac
squad back in time and fight a hit and run guerilla cam-

least they'd both still use Latin! <G>), or similar "what-

Very short question, means it needs a long answear.

Before answearing the question, I'd go throw the options.

WFB is what got me into miniatures gaming, but that was third edition
and that is still my favourite edition. If I where going to play only
warhammer, then it would be third edition, with the needed house
rules.

Before I played WFB, I played a lot of hexagonal tactical war
games. Games, that often are more realistic, despite simplistic
rules. If I had to pick just one of those games, it would be Napoleon
at Eylau. It is a game that is fun and challenging. It is also quite
possible to win on either french or russian sides.

Then there is others.

One of the miniature games that is really interesting is Fantasy
Warlords by Gary Chalk and Iain Bailey. It is interesting, because it
eliminates much of the randomness. It is neither a I go U go
game. All movement happens simultaneusly.

I'd definitivly would go with Fantasy warlord if I only was allowed to
play one game for the rest of my life.

Other: BFG. Cheap(ish)to get into, relatively solid rules set, actually
quite tactical for GW.

Hey! I've got that! Never played it, but the rulebook is really good,
loads of info and good illustrations (some of which bear a remarkable
resemblance to those in some of the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks). The
descriptions in the miscast tables were particularly funny, IIRC.
