My cousin is getting pc parts for my new upgrade for the 13600k.

Thing is that he may not be able to update the bios if he goes for the 600 chipset series. So for guarantee 13th gen support, Z790 is what I have to stick with.

But i don't see a lot of reviews for these boards so i need help on deciding which one is good and won't cause much of issues. My budget is within 200-260$ at max just for the motherboard alone.

Some that I have in mind. Note that I'm going for DDR4 variations.

MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI DDR4

Asus PRIME Z790-P WIFI D4

Asus PRIME Z790M-PLUS D4

Anyone who has a better option for Z790 motherboard is welcome.

I know I shouldn't expect a response soon but if anyone can suggest a z790 Mobo please let me know as my cousin is about to finalise with Asus prime z790 p one.

What might cause you to choose suggestion number 1 rather than suggestion number 2?

Cost?

Online reviews?

A benchmark you saw for one of them?

Certain specific features on number 1 that are not found on number 2?

Previous good experience with that brand?

Give us something to help you choose rather than a mere "suggestion".

If you mean MSI Pro one, that has more USB and sata ports and with it having more m.2 slots i think. The prime one has less of that but then I heard that Asus tends to have best UI for the bios.

But honestly this is actually my first time venturing into these brands as my first motherboard is Supermicro which Colif only seems to know of. So i really am clueless of which Mobo has more value.

All i know is that i need a one that can do the needed performance for 13600k and that urs within around 200$ price point.

This one reviewer says the prime z790 a one is overpriced even though it's good but the one I'm keen on is the P one.

This one says that the MSI Pro one is good too.

I guess some things I would like is two RGB headers atleast so that I don't have to power my front fans RGB with sata cables.

It's much more of a crap shoot than you would like.

You can have a good or horrible experience with any reasonable candidate. Simple luck.

For a 200 dollar budget, I'd pick out 4 or 5 in the 175 to 225 range.

Make a list of features on all of them by looking at spec sheets on the board's website.

Eliminate the ones that don't have features that you really want. Maybe you must have this RGB setup or that type of USB ports or this type of SSD connections or that color scheme.

Leaving you with 2 or 3 maybe.

Flip a coin at that point? Or rely on an online review? Or rely on what some anonymous person on the Internet says?

I just don't think you can have a HIGH degree of confidence in any choice. None of us can know with any certainty what problems you might have.

Don't forget to check the DDR version of ever which board you pick. In my case, where I already had purchased the DDR 5 ram, my available choices were pretty slim as far as what was in stock. I wanted to get the Prime Z790-A because of the cost, but my order of that board went into back order so I ended up having to shell out for the Strix board. Maybe the stock situation is better where you are.

Thank you

That being the case, I have decided to go for the MSI MAG B660 Tomahawk D4 one. My cousin will do the bios update.
