Well, i found a website that has a TON of pics of upcoming Whistler and looking from whats there (just about everything there is in the os). The only thing is all the buzz about the one machine- one copy registratin and unlocking keys. It seems Microsoft has finally built a decent OS and theyre gonna ruin it by making everyone buy one copy PER machine? Its crazy.

Except for germany cause those guys have balls(and expertise) and would tell MS to go F%$# themselves then make Linux a true rival to MS.

been reading the register?

The register, aces, hard ocp, anand, etc. etc. etc.

You can never get enough Points of views and knowledge.

Hey man,

look at what MS is supposed to do.
To use Whistler you'll have to go online and register you MS#$§%& and then you'll get a key generated by serials of your computer parts!
That means you must HAVE an Internet access in order to use Whistler! MS is killing itself at the moment with their OS strategy.
I for myself had enough of that SH*# my next configuration
will look so:

Win 98SE (secondary OS)
Susue or Red Hat Linux (primary OS)

It is "fun" to see how MS is forcing us to follow it's new .NET orientation. Everything will be NET based. We see computers more and more powerful, but if we follow blindly MS, we will end-up with simplke terminals connected to the web ...

I just wish they'd leave my computer alone... I love the 'net, I surf it for hours every day, but I want to be able to click that "disconnect" button whenever I bloody want to, and be no worse off for it. I have a $6500 "PERSONAL COMPUTER" (look up the definition, somebody:), not a dumb-terminal that is being governed by external entities...

I am supprised that MS has not done serial number checks on the net already. At least local net for matching serials on OS, Like adobe.

It was a matter of time before this happened. Whistler is still a year or two from reaching my desktop, excluding beta.

Yeah, sure, Whistler looks great, with nice fonts and good usability. However, its box could be clad in gold leaf but that still wouldn't stop Windows crashing every hour as soon as you try something beyond 'lets write a document in word'. Linux/UNIX is unbeatable in terms of stability. I have had server systems running on modern hardware for 6 months without any problems.

No doubt Whistler will include an 'updated' version of NetBIOS, with 'features' that open many more back-doors into your PC. That's just great when you're running on a fixed connection or even a dial-up in mIRC or something.
