Sooo.... i have an AMD Phenom II X4 965 within an Asus mobo, recently (6 days ago) i bought a new cooler for my cpu the coolermaster rr tx3e 22pk r1 hyper tx3 evo
http://www.eshopcy.com.cy/coolermaster-rr-tx3e-22pk-r1-hyper-tx3-evo-p-PER.806761
I never overclocked it or intended to do so,i just wanted to be cool like a Jamaican :p

Anyway! after 6 days of non problem use ,installed perfectly etc ,this morning after boot immediately white smoke came out of the top of the case and i shutted down the computer ,after a brief check up i saw that one of the four wires that came out the cpu fan connected to the cpu 4-pin was melted,no fire just melted.
The question is: Is it possible that this incident fried the 4 pin slot?(no weird burn marks what so ever) and what is your thoughts for what may cause this to happen?

I sent in for replacement the cooler but i hope my 4-pin is still alive ,i would check it at night after work with another cooler.

Mobo-Asus M4A785TD-V EVO (AM3) http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A785TDV_EVO/
CPU-AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.40ghz
PSU-650W COOLER MASTER

The cpu fan is connected direct to the 4-pin
all the other fans are connected through different 4-pins

I have in total 5 case fans (1X front 2X upper 1X Rear 1X bottom) the 2 are connected to the mobo and the rest are through psu cables

For the cpu cooler i didnt need to change anything in the back plate of the cpu just pop the thermal paste and install it on the 2 pressure hooks ,the classic AM3 slot

OK!! i installed my previous cooler an Artic Cooling Alpine Pro 64 which sucks btw.. the good news is that the 4-pin is fine..
So take a notice that a faulty cooler can easily burn your tower for apparently no reason..
