Sooo.... i have an AMD Phenom II X4 965 within an Asus mobo, recently (6 days ago) i bought a new cooler for my cpu the coolermaster rr tx3e 22pk r1 hyper tx3 evo

I never overclocked it or intended to do so,i just wanted to be cool like a Jamaican
Anyway! after 6 days of non problem use ,installed perfectly etc ,this morning after boot immediately white smoke came out of the top of the case and i shutted down the computer ,after a brief check up i saw that one of the four wires that came out the cpu fan connected to the cpu 4-pin was melted,no fire just melted.
The question is: Is it possible that this incident fried the 4 pin slot?(no weird burn marks what so ever) and what is your thoughts for what may cause this to happen?
I sent in for replacement the cooler but i hope my 4-pin is still alive ,i would check it at night after work with another cooler.
