Hello,

I want to restrict certain computers to use only one website as its a POS site but prevent staff from surfing while they are at work. Family Safety in Windows 10 does not seem to work well as sites I have blocked are blocked in Edge but not Internet Explorer (Microsoft cannot explain why). Can anyone suggest an alternative for Windows 10 or provide a hosts file example that would work?

Thanks so much,

Solution
Hello SentryKnight

Any site that you don't want the users to access can be blocked by typing its URL followed by a tab space, and the tab space followed by the 127.0.0.1 IP address in the hosts file.

E.g.: www.facebook.com 127.0.0.1.

Good Luck!! :)

Thanks Vive,

Is there a way to block all except one in a hosts file instead of entering in sites?

Hello again SentryKnight

Unfortunately the hosts file doesn't allow you to do so, not at least in my limited knowledge.

However, you can go for any free web protection tool such as K9 that allows you to create access or deny lists where you can either block all the other websites except the ones that you specify, or allow all the sites except the ones that you block respectively.

Cheers!!
