Who can handle DHCP better?

I have a home server installed in my house, and it runs on Amahi (Fedora Linux).
It deliberately points out from time to time that I disable DHCP on my router and let the server handle it, if I want to use the server in its full functionality.
Is that entirely a good idea?
If the server handles DHCP, what problems I might face?

When it comes to a home or home business, it doesn't matter which device does DHCP.
