Hi everyone.

I have been googling this over and over again, call me blind as a bat but I still cannot seem to get any clarification on this....

Does anyone currently have a UHD or 4K TV that they are using for games? I currently play World of Tanks on a Samsung 48 inch full HD LED TV and love it. I now have a Skylake i7-6700K and a Gigabyte G1 GTX980Ti. Ive enabled nVidia DSR so that I can push the resolution above 1920x1080 and play in 2715x1527 resolution with everything on ultra settings. I get between 90 and 110 frames per second which is more than enough. I love it so much that I want to get a curved 55 or 65 inch UHD/4K TV. Is anyone currently playing on a 4K that can give me feedback on their current experience. All the information I have so far is from people that don't actually have one. How a 4K displays resolution less than 3840x2160 is something that concerns me.

I understand that a GTX980Ti wont cut it as no single GPU can run a game at 3840x2160 with good frames per second. Like I said above I get over 90 frames per second in 2715x1527, I would like to use that resolution (or similar) on a higher resolution screen... I dont want to get a 1440 screen as they are all smaller than my 48inch, I want to go bigger. I still cannot even find a definite clear cut answer weather a 4K/UHD TV can display 1080 as clear as a 1080 HD TV. Half the internet says yes its exactly the same and the other half says the up-scaling makes it look blurry.

This is my set up if anyone wants to see:

Thank you so much.

I typically alternative between 3x 1080p screens and my 4k tv depending on the game. I also have a 980ti and it is playable in pretty much every game I have in my stream library right now at 4k. The huge pixel density ruined 1080p gaming as it looks so much better. If you can afford it, I highly recommend gaming in, 4k as it makes everything look so much better.

Hi ak47jar3d,
If you set your games to 1080p on your 4k TV, does it look exactly the same as 1080p on a 1080p LED HD TV, or does the upscaling make it look a little blurry? At what resolution do you run your games at that your 980ti and can comfortably run them?

It's looks better than my old 1080p screen at the resolution. Blurry? No, not at all. I usually run my games at 3840x2160 with ultra settings but the filters are disabled. There is no need for AA settings at that resolution. Even with very demanding games at 4k (witcher3, arkham Knight, battlefield hardline) you can get at least 40 frames with only compromising AA settings.

Hi ak47jar3d,
When I say "blurry", I mean that I have read in several places that when the 4k TV displays 1080, it actually upscales it and makes it look a little blurry. Its good to know that this is not the case. Im impressed that the 980ti can run games at 3840x2160 resolution. Something Im dying to know is how a 4K Tv will display 2715x1527, I know this resolution is "not to scale" and there will be "stretching" over the screen, but I would love to know how bad...or good. Would it be possible to see how your 4k TV displays this resolution in a game? I hoping it will look better than a 1080p screen with nvidia dsr enabled. 2715x1527 is the sweet spot for world of tanks....At this resolution I can get over 60 frames per second which makes the game very enjoyable, and at the same time I can see the text/UI around the screen. At 3840x2160 the text/UI is so tiny you cannot see it, never mind read it....2715x1527 is the perfect balance. If 2715x1527 looks good on a 4k then Im getting one for sure🙂 Id really appreciate your help....so far youre the only one I know of that has both 4k and 1080 TV's so your info is invaluable.

Hi, question for ak47jar3d, what 4K TV are you using? I am going round in (Internet) circles to find a good (reasonably priced) 4K TV for general PC gaming. Thanks in advance.

Just read your set-up and answered my own question - sorry!
