Yeah I knew that when I went to fill out the MIR. I think the MKIII 750W and 850W are made by Super Flower but I can't find any reviews to verify that.

One CX model, the CX400, is in fact made by Seasonic. The other CX models are produced by Channel Well that produced many award winning TX supplies designed by Corsair.

I do like Channel Well in addition to Superflower and Seasonic. I do love my new Seasonic Platinum-1000.

I have to think Flextronics has good things going for them as well since Corsair's high-end AXxxx i models are made by this manufacturer.

I agree with Makere. I want to see who makes Delta or Seasonic 600-650W PSUs. It's hard to find that now.

This is definitely asking for an interactive little javascript app.

Definitely true. I'd save that for the Coolmax, Ultras, and Diabloteks of the world.

"When I replaced a crappy 500W power supply bought online from Fry's with a Corsair 520W supply built by Seasonic (from the egg), a few years ago the system almost miraculously became 100% more stable. I will never skimp on a power supply again. EVER."

Your Corsair CX500 is actually built by Channel Well, not by Seasonic.

Channel Well pumps out some good power supplies. My 950TX served me well. As a matter of fact, that whole TX-line, built by Channel Well, put Corsair on the map as an award-winning PSU designer.

My older TX750 still holds up pretty well (although I'm thinking of replacing it with a Super Flower unit like the Rosewill Capstone or NZXT Hale 90 relatively soon), but some people get OEMs confused with who actually makes the supplies.

It would make it harder to use.

Most users know that they have a corsair <insert model number here>

vs I have a power supply made by <insert brand here>

Also it is more easy to say Corsair uses seasonic/fsp/cwt then

cwt makes this corsair unit + all the other brands they sell under
seasonic makes this one
fsp makes this one.

The idea would work great if a company used only one oem, but many do not.

Umm, well I commend the effort put into this list but what good is it if it doesn't rate anything. All it seems to be is general what to look out for and a huge list of companies.

The what to look out for isn't very useful as it's impossible to see any of those things in the store. Mostly the shops will not even allow you to open the box let alone open the PSU exterior housing. I guess no makers put what digital chip on the outside of the box not declare one was in fact used or not.

And the long list of manufacturers... How is that useful? Maybe I'm just dumb but what good is that? How can I use it to determine the quality of a given PSU?

In all this article is a colossal failure for anyone looking to buy a new PSU. It seems only useful for those who want to know what came with their computer or junk collectors who are able and willing to open up their stacks of PSUs in order to pick a good one from among their piles.

Seriously guys... 😛

Something is wrong here;

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256072&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Examining the picture of the model sticker, it is clear to see that this PSU is: E313296, yet it is a Silverstone Strider Essential, which is said to be manufactured by Sirtec? Yet the model numbers don't match up? Something is wrong here.

I've got a Seventeam Z-AF 850W and its been running GREAT for over 4 years now. I've changed configurations once and swapped GPUs twice for more powerful parts and it still keeps on cracking a masterful job. Money incredibly well spent. I'm sure it will keep on going for anoter 2 or 3 years.

A PSU can make or break your system, always make sure you buy a high quality PSU. SeaSonic-XFX-Antec (HCG Series only)

I was looking up a power supply (LC Power. LC6600GP2 2.3) and entered the UL number listed in this article for LC Power, manufacture Great Wall: Lo and behold UL page indicates that that UL # is of Great Wall polishers (Clas II Tools). NO mention of PSUs.
Just thought this might help someone. I will avoid Great WAll stuff like the plague!

I could do that without full Acrobat, but the point is the original author probably has this in a document format, which can easily be saved as a PDF, then a download link created.

I can do it myself, but I'll have to cut/paste each page to make it happen.

Thx. I tend to ignore those convenient little links on the side of the article or I would have probably not posted :).

Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
