Same error here, using a 8800GT I was playing Fallout3 and Call of Juarez, same day I installed new drivers and started getting the black screen and nvlddmkm driver error 'Display driver stopped working etc etc'
Tried trouble shooting, I'm sure the card is fine, it's the 190.38 driver.
I see alot of ppl having the same issue with various cards
