A merger would make more sense, in ip amd lacks low power consumption/therefore mobile, java micro architecture, arm lacks 64 bit and x86 commonalities. With arm having a high price earnings ratio of it's stock, and amd having high debt ratios, neither would be getting the prize pig at the fair, but together they would be able to run more mobile and x86 apps on a combined architecture than thier rival intel in the mobile and stationary realms. To be sure they might not be able to run all apps but a majority, would be a powerful commercial advantage. Or they could wait for a wintel/appletel/googletel gugernaught to make them an also ran. Discloseure running Server 8 Datacenter, win 8, office 2010, kindle fire 6.3, sammy gs gingerbread, amd a2 x4 8g rm, dual and single core arm.
