[SOLVED] Why are 144hz monitors so expensive?

I remember looking at 144hz monitors back in highschool and they were aaround 150-200, but now that I'm looking again the prices seemed to have significantly jumped. Also, why are there "gaming" monitors thaat don't have a refresh rate higher than 60hz? I would like to buy a 144hz but they're kind of expensive...

150-200 for a 144hz monitor has only happened within the past few years and the prices still haven't changed much. Maybe it's a local supply issue with covid but in most places, I'm still seeing normal prices.

Anything with "gaming" slapped on it has always been a marketing ploy. It means nothing, never has.
