Why are best buy so expensive?

why why why are best buy video cards n other pc stuff so expensive??for example a gtx 460 for 240 dollar and 6950 for 340 dollar why plz help me?

Because they can be. They sell there gear to the average joe who doesn't really know what he is even buying. Most of there sales are probably things that the "geek squad" or whatever recomends to people who come in looking for help.

Also retail is always more expensive than shopping online because you have to help pay for the physical store and the salaries of all the high school dropouts that don't know where anything in the store is.

Because people buy it, and it is pretty much the only (big box) retailer left so they can.

They are easy and around the corner from most people. Most normal non technical people think of Bestbuy as a technical store. Which they are not for sure.

I don't think BestBuy wants to be a computer parts store. So, they make no effort to compete with Fry's, which does. They don't care about selling a lot of GPUs and would rather just sell a few (if any) to the few people that are ignorant enough to buy from them.

Fry's used to be the same. I was pleasantly surprised last November that I was able to buy am HD 6870 GPU from them for the same price as NewEgg. All of the other parts were competitively priced as well, and I bought most of my parts from them. They must have made a conscious decision to compete with the e-tailors.

All of the above. BTW, I prefer Microcenter to Fry's but they are both light years better than Best But for computer parts.

Costs more to design.
Fewer are manufactured.

Hey, I completely understand... Why does a Ferrari 599 GTO cost $460,000!?!?!?!

Can't they simply sell a brand new working 599 GTO for only $9,999.99?

I would guess they have more overhead than say newegg and others. Plus most people who buy stuff at bestbuy don't know any better.
