Why are different keyboard layers an issue?

So there is this one keyboard (Alfawise V2) I really want to get but it is currently only available in the US layout and I'm from Germany.
Now the only difference between those layouts is that the 'Y' and 'Z' keys are swapped.
If I just swap the keycaps and change the keyboard layout in Windows settings, everything should be fine, right?

Yes. Every program should respect what Windows says is the keyboard layout. Of course now that I've said that you probably have the one program that doesn't.
