Why are my game shortcuts internet shortcuts?

Why does steam do this?

no idea, does the game launch better from steam client itself? if yes, delete old shortcut, right click on game in library and recreate desktop shortcut.
As side note, It was blurry enough that I was not able to see the exact error message well either.

If game wont run from steam library either, there is something else wrong with the install, verifying cache and such are good places to start

edit: As side note, all steam shortcuts follow the style:
steam://rungameid/437920 where the number is game's steam id, telling steam to run said game.

so... if things fail, it might be totally too invasive firewall setting or something else fishy, blocking said steam linking from working.

Edit: Yes, they should be internet shortcuts, that is how it works. What changes these for you is still a mystery.

edit2: similar things seem to happen with roaming profiles: It might be the case for you, I don't know.

every game shortcut i have tried to make has been one of those shortcuts its been doing this for a couple weeks and im not sure what caused it.

The path displayed in details tab is the path to the shortcut and not the game. So it says D:\Users\Michael\Desktop

Im so confused.

go in the game folder and redo the desktop shortcut the one you have there does not lead to anything on computer .

Read my previous posts. I said this has been happening for two weeks.

When i make a new one its the same thing, are there shortcut settings that got changed or something?
