why should one not buy a computer that just meets the minimum requirements for the software that you use

What do you mean? Do you mean "Why get a better and more expensive PC than your programs/games require you to?"

Well obviously a better PC will perform better and run things more smoothly. And with games you can always turn u the settings to make it look better if your hardware is adequate.
