So I just upgraded to gigabit internet and I have an msi h170a gaming pro mb which supports 1 gbps http:// However my ethernet will only run at 100 Mbps and when I change it to 1 Gbps in the Link speed my internet won't connect. Why can't I run 1 Gbps? I have verizon fios and I have the fios gateway and I am using cat5e cable to my desktop.

Even my phones are limited to 100 mbps and I tried 5 Ghz connection even being so close to the router.

They keep telling me my desktops are not capable of 1gbs when my mobo supports 1gbs.

On the verizon fios web site, they show 2 plans (https://www.verizon.com/home/fios-fastest-internet/):
1. Everyday speed @ 100 Mbps for $39.99/month
2. Maxed Out @ up to 940 Mbps, Gigabit Connection for $79.99/month

Based on your PC's and phones, it looks like they have you on the Everyday Speed plan, not the gigabit plan.

I have the gigabit plan other wise I wouldn't be complaining to them lol. I got the 940(1 gbps) plan. My drivers are most up to date from oem intel. I can't install anymore drivers as my driver is up to date. I don't know if my wires are gigabit though but on the amazon web page where I bought it they say it can transfer up to 10 gbps in the description. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003RCEAB8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I am getting frustrated because I am paying for a gigabit service and not getting it.

You're going to need to be insistent with verizon. You pretty much proved you're not getting what you paid for with the screen shot you posted. They're just giving you the run around regarding your equipment not being gigabit compatible.

Hmm I just tried the cat7 and it didn't make my speed increase at all.

EDIT:
I went into the motherboard bios and noticed that my network can only connection at 100 mbps in the bios to so its not even detecting the 1 gbps in the bios. Could it be a bad faulty network card?

Verizon people were right, my computer isnt cabaple of 1 gbps but my motherboard website and box said it is. How do I enable this? I just bought a 1 gbps pci xpress card and it shows me the full gbps that I wanted.
