Why can't I move an Alienware x51 PSU to a new case?

I have an alienware x51 r2, and I am considering moving it to a new case. Why cant I move the PSU? I know it wouldn't fit right, and it would have "the block" outside the case, but as a temporary solution, why not?

I just recently move to a new case from my X51. While I was waiting for my new PSU, I'm using the X51 power supply to power up the pc in the new case. My case is NZXT Noctis 450. I basically chunked in the power brick at the PSU bracket its cable connect to the small power port of the X51 case which i removed and placed inside the new case. From the port I just connect it all the way to the X51 power board and from there everything just like usual. The problem you might encounter is that the cables for X51 is pretty short and you'll need extension cables. Also do note that X51 power board molex output is a male instead of the normal female.
