Why cant i overclock my cpu in the bios?

I was looking to oc my cpu today and i heard the bios we the best place todo it...so i go into my bios and click the mulitplier (this goes for anything that would oc) and it is sort of greyed out or unclickable so i cant adjust....what do i do to unlock it?
