Hello,

I followed this guide
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nn2yT8OGpE
to compress my video successfully but the bottom dark area is missing in my compressed video.

Screenshot of my video, before compress is left screenshot, after compress is right screenshot View: https://i.imgur.com/lJDwQbI.png

My video is shot using phone, in the original video the bottom area is darker because no light at the bottom area, it is not a complete solid black.

Question: Why the bottom darker black area disappeared after compress? (I redo everything for a second time and it is still the same result)

I tried to compress my other video and I see the after compress video looks exactly the same as the before compress video.

I guess some settings in this guide
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nn2yT8OGpE
will auto make the bottom black area disappear and auto enlarge the area that are not black but I am not sure.

Thank you

As with all other settings in Handbrake when you don't like the preset defaults, it's under the "Custom" button.

Your phone can record videos directly in 1080p30 so I would suggest starting with that. If the filesize is still too large, then Handbrake can re-encode it to lower quality/higher compression without as much quality loss as it would have when also resizing/scaling.

Where is the "Custom" button?

Unable to see any button labelled as Custom https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/latest/advanced/custom-presets.html
